Medan – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) officially commenced the site assessment for the accreditation of the Medical Doctor Professional Program as part of its commitment to enhancing the quality of education, institutional governance, and academic services. The assessment marks an important milestone in ensuring that the medical education program continues to meet national quality standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The event began with an opening session attended by the university leadership, faculty executives, the assessment team, and members of the FK USU academic community. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara, delivered welcoming remarks and expressed the university's full support for the accreditation process. She emphasized that accreditation represents an ongoing commitment to strengthening the university's quality assurance system and continuously improving the quality of higher education at USU.

The site assessment was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Dr. Drs. H. Kusmardi, M.Sc., CIRR, Chair of the Assessment Team, marking the beginning of the verification and validation process for the implementation of the Medical Doctor Professional Program at USU.

The program then continued in the Faculty of Medicine Meeting Room, where Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(O.G), Sp.O.G., Subsp.K.Fm., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine USU, welcomed the assessment team and reaffirmed the faculty's commitment to delivering high-quality, adaptive, and continuously improving medical education.

The subsequent agenda featured presentations on the profile, achievements, and future development of the program by Prof. Dr. dr. Rina Amelia, MARS, FISPH., FISCM., Sp.KKLP., Subsp.FOMC., Head of the Undergraduate Medical Education Program, and Dr. dr. Putri Amelia, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A(K)., Head of the Medical Doctor Professional Program. The session was attended by the faculty's accreditation team as well as Prof. Setiawan, S.Kp., MNS., Ph.D., Acting Director of the USU Directorate of Quality Assurance, together with his team, demonstrating institutional support for the successful implementation of the assessment.

The site assessment contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening the quality of medical education, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by preparing competent physicians capable of improving healthcare services, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions through the reinforcement of transparent, accountable, and quality-oriented institutional governance.
