Medan, August 31, 2026 — The Department of Physiology and the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), held an in-house training entitled “Belum Buat Bahan Kuliah? SAT SET kan aja!” on Monday, August 31, 2026. The training was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and featured Dr. dr. Dedi Ardinata, M.Kes., AIFM, a lecturer in the Department of Physiology at FK USU and a specialist in human physiology, as the speaker.

The activity was organized as part of efforts to strengthen the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting learning processes and the preparation of teaching materials in medical and health education. Through the training, participants were introduced to practical and efficient strategies for utilizing AI in developing lecture presentation materials.

The training covered strategies for creating engaging presentation slides efficiently using AI, techniques for developing professional, interactive, and effective teaching materials, as well as hands-on practice in preparing lecture materials for use in the learning process. Through its practical approach, the training provided participants with an opportunity not only to understand the use of AI but also to apply the technology in developing teaching resources.

The use of AI in preparing lecture materials is expected to help lecturers and educators optimize the time required to develop learning resources. AI can serve as a supporting tool for structuring materials, developing visual ideas, and improving the quality and attractiveness of presentations, while scientific accuracy and educators’ expertise remain the primary foundations of the learning process.

The activity supports SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly by promoting improvements in learning quality through innovation and the use of technology. Strengthening educators’ digital and AI capabilities is expected to contribute to learning processes that are increasingly adaptive, effective, and relevant to developments in science and technology.

The activity also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the introduction and application of digital technological innovation in education. The use of AI as part of the teaching-material development process reflects efforts to integrate technological developments with the needs of medical and health sciences education.

Through this in-house training, the Department of Physiology and the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences at FK USU continue to encourage an academic culture that is adaptive to technological developments. The use of AI is expected not only to facilitate the preparation of teaching materials but also to enable lecturers to focus more on developing academic content, improving learning quality, and strengthening academic interaction with students.

Going forward, the use of AI in education can continue to be developed in a responsible and needs-based manner. Integrating technology with the expertise and professional competence of educators is expected to contribute to improving the quality of medical and health education while fostering innovative and impactful learning processes for human resource development.
