Medan, September 9, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, received an audience from the Karo Regent, Bina Kasih General Hospital, and Kasih Insani General Hospital. The meeting served as a momentum to strengthen institutional relations while discussing opportunities for strategic collaboration in medical education, healthcare services, research, and community service.
The audience was attended by Karo Regent Dr. dr. Antonius Ginting, Sp.OG, M.Kes., Director of Bina Kasih General Hospital; dr. Wiyogo, MKM, FISQua, Director of Kasih Insani General Hospital, dr. Rikardo, MM, Sp.KKLP, and Quality Committee of Bina Kasih General Hospital Drs. Patriot Ginting. The presence of these stakeholders reflected a shared commitment to building networks and partnerships that can benefit human resource development and improve the quality of healthcare services. This cross-institutional collaboration is in line with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthened strategic cooperation in support of sustainable development.
The Bina Kasih General Hospital delegation was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG, Subsp.K.Fm., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. dr. Dedy Hermansyah, Sp.B, Subsp.Onk(K); Manager for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, dr. O.K. Ilham Abdullah Irsyam, Sp.OT, CF, AIFO-K; Chair of TKP-PPDS, Dr. dr. Almaycano Ginting, M.Kes, M.Ked (Clin.Path), Sp.P.K.; and Head of the Medical Doctor Professional Study Program, Dr. dr. Putri Amelia, M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A, Subsp.Kardio(K).
In his remarks, Karo Regent Dr. dr. Antonius Ginting stated that strengthening collaboration among local governments, educational institutions, and hospitals is an important step in addressing the healthcare needs of the community. “This collaboration is expected not only to strengthen healthcare services but also to create opportunities for the development of better education and healthcare human resources, particularly in supporting the needs of communities in the regions,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, welcomed the initiative and emphasized that the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is open to cooperation opportunities that can strengthen the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. According to him, synergy with hospitals is an important part of creating a medical education ecosystem that is relevant to healthcare service needs. This is in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening education and the continuous development of healthcare personnel competencies.
Meanwhile, the Director of Bina Kasih General Hospital, dr. Wiyogo, stated that the audience is expected to serve as an initial step toward establishing concrete and sustainable cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. “We hope this collaboration can benefit both institutions, whether in educational development, improving service quality, research, or community service,” he said.
In line with this, the Director of Kasih Insani General Hospital, dr. Rikardo, MM, Sp.KKLP, expressed his support for strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and healthcare facilities. According to him, well-directed cooperation can create opportunities to develop healthcare personnel competencies while improving the quality of services provided to the community. “We see collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as an opportunity to jointly develop competent healthcare human resources while promoting improvements in service quality through the exchange of knowledge and experience,” he said.
The meeting continued with a discussion on various potential areas of cooperation, including the development of medical education, improvement of hospital service quality, research, and community service.
