“Welcome to all new lecturers. The Faculty of Medicine, USU continues to grow into an excellent and globally competitive institution. Wednesday (October 15, 2025) - The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) officially welcomed 13 new permanent lecturers from various medical specialties. Their arrival strengthens FK USU's academic capacity to carry out the university’s three pillars: education, research, and community service.

During the welcoming event held in the Meeting Room, 1st Floor of FK USU, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), expressed his gratitude and pride at the addition of the new academic staff to the FK USU family. “Welcome to all new lecturers. The Faculty of Medicine at USU continues to grow into an excellent, globally competitive institution. We hope your presence will strengthen our shared commitment to providing quality, integrity-driven, and human-oriented medical education,” said Prof. Aldy in his remarks.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean I, Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked(PA)., Sp.PA(K) emphasized the importance of the lecturers’ readiness to adapt to the academic system and the competency-based curriculum implemented at FKUSU. “We hope the new lecturers will soon integrate into the teaching activities and actively contribute to curriculum development and the implementation of innovative, technology-based teaching methods,” he stated.

Vice Dean II, Dr. dr. Muara P. Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K) highlighted the importance of giving attention and priority to the Undergraduate Program (S1) and Medical Doctor Profession Program, as both serve as the main foundation in developing medical competence. He noted that the education process at the undergraduate and professional levels forms the “core foundation” that determines the quality of graduates before advancing to higher levels such as Specialist, Master’s (S2), or Doctoral (S3) programs.

“When this initial stage is strong, the next levels will be easier to build. Therefore, our focus must be directed toward strengthening the academic and professional foundations of students from the undergraduate and professional programs,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean III, dr. Inke Nadia Diniyanti Lubis, PGDip PID., FAAET., M.Ked(Ped), Sp.A., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of improving the quality and quantity of the university’s three-pillar activities, particularly in research, community service, and academic collaboration. These efforts are expected to contribute directly to enhancing FK USU’s position in the QS World University Rankings and strengthening the university’s progress toward becoming a World Class University (WCU).

She also reminded that a lecturer’s duties extend beyond teaching and educational activities, encompassing responsibilities such as conducting at least one research project per year, engaging in community service, and publishing a minimum of two scientific papers annually.

“As lecturers, we must take an active role not only in the classroom but also in advancing knowledge and contributing meaningfully to society through research and scientific publication,” she concluded.

With the addition of these 13 new lecturers, the Faculty of Medicine, USU further strengthens its position as one of the oldest and most distinguished medical faculties in Indonesia, remaining committed to producing excellent, ethical medical professionals and scientists who make meaningful contributions to society.
