Three academics from the Faculty of Medicine of USU have been officially inaugurated as Permanent Professors of Universitas Sumatera Utara in an academic ceremony held at the USU Student Hall on Monday, February 17, 2025.

  2. Prof. Dr. dr. Julandi Harahap, MA, FISPH, FISCM, M.Kal, dan

  3. Prof. Dr. dr. Kamal Basri Siregar, M.Ked (Surg), Sp.B Subsp.Onk(K) FICS, M.H.Kes

The Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., stated that this inauguration is part of USU's long journey to build a stronger academic ecosystem. He also emphasized that the role of professors is not only limited to the classroom but also extends to providing broader insights for society.

This inauguration is tangible evidence of USU's contribution to developing science and technology related to health sciences. The Rector of USU, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, highlighted that this achievement reflects the quality of USU's human resources.

Each professor presented their research and ideas in their respective fields during the scientific speech session. Prof. Dr. dr. Bintang began with a speech titled "Preventive Therapy for Tuberculosis in Latent Tuberculosis Infection: Challenges and Solutions Towards Tuberculosis Elimination in Indonesia." Followed by Prof. Dr. dr. Julandi, discussing the importance of "Optimizing Reproductive Health as a Strategy for Stunting Prevention: A Holistic Approach for a Quality Generation." The session concluded with Prof. Dr. dr. Kamal's speech on "Liquid Biopsy as a Revolutionary Innovation in Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Future Cancer Therapy Approaches."

This inauguration is not merely a ceremony but also a symbol of the great responsibility for academics to continue contributing to education and research. With the increasing number of professors, USU further strengthens its position as a leading and highly competitive university at the national level and internationally.
