With great pleasure, I am pleased to welcome you to the Specialist-1 Program in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, greetings to us all. Praise and gratitude be to Allah Swt., who has bestowed His mercy and bounty upon us, allowing us to complete this Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program website. With the establishment of this Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program website, we can facilitate the accessibility of information openly to students, lecturers, alumni, communities outside, and other institutions. The Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program is here to provide solutions for the development of education in the field of medicine. On this website, the Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program also has the vision to become an education center for Cardiovascular Medicine that is of quality with national standards and international competitiveness by 2024 by enhancing the focus on inflammatory diseases, tropical infections and other infections, clinical cardiology and oncology in the cardiovascular field, as well as cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation. The missions of the Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program are: 1. To organize quality education to enhance knowledge and skills for specialist doctors in cardiology and progress towards higher academic levels in accordance with scientific advancements and societal demands, particularly in the fields of inflammatory diseases, tropical infections and other infections, clinical cardiology and oncology in the cardiovascular field, as well as cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation. 2. To organize quality research in the field of cardiovascular medicine in an independent manner to develop solutions for cardiovascular disease problems in Indonesia, particularly in the fields of inflammatory diseases, tropical infections and other infections, clinical cardiology and oncology in the cardiovascular field, as well as cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation. 3. To organize community service in the field of cardiovascular medicine to develop and implement heart disease services in a thorough, comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable manner, with a focus on identifying risk factors for cardiovascular disease prevention and rehabilitation. 4. To establish cooperation, especially with professional organizations, network hospitals, alumni associations, Heart Foundations and other Foundations, with the goal of expanding the implementation scope of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. This website was created with the goal and hope that it can be a minimum reference for every student to maintain the effectiveness of the Cardiovascular Disease Study Program's organization as well as a means of internal and external communication for prospective students, students, lecturers, staff, and education world observers. This media is also used to support the student recruitment system. In conclusion, from the message I have conveyed, may the Cardiovascular Medicine Study Program be rahmatan lil-alamin for all of us. The following is a list of graduate profiles found in Specialist-1 Program in Cardiovascular Medicine

Graduates of this study program can become cardiology specialists in general hospitals, specialist clinics, or specialized heart hospitals. They are responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with various cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmia.

Some graduates choose to open private practices as cardiology consultants, offering consultation services, examination, and treatment of various cardiovascular problems, as well as advice on healthy lifestyles and heart disease prevention.

As lecturers or researchers in medical faculties or research institutions, they will teach medical students, conduct research on heart and vascular diseases, and contribute to the development of medical knowledge through scientific publications.

Graduates who choose to work in cardiac rehabilitation centers help patients recover from a heart attack or cardiac surgical procedure. They design individualized rehabilitation programs to improve patients' physical and mental state, provide emotional support, and educate them on disease management.

Some graduates also specialize in interventional cardiology, performing invasive procedures such as angioplasty and stenting to open blocked blood vessels. They work in cardiac catheterization labs and collaborate with cardiac surgery teams on complex cases.

For those who choose to pursue a career as a clinical researcher in pharmaceutical companies, their job is to develop and test new drugs to treat cardiovascular diseases. In addition, they also design and manage clinical trials, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of new products before they are launched into the market.

Graduates of this study program can also become diagnostic experts, using imaging techniques such as echocardiography, CT scan, and MRI to diagnose heart and vascular diseases. They assist in determining an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning for patients.

Some graduates also choose to work in public health, focusing on improving heart disease prevention and community health promotion. They work with communities to raise awareness about heart disease risk factors and develop effective prevention programs.
