Specialist Medical Education Program (Sp-1)

The Specialist-1 Program in Dermatology Venereology and Aesthetics (Sp.K.K.) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is one of the oldest specialist programs in Indonesia, established in 1980 and has now received A accreditation. This study program was established based on the aim of designing students with good academic abilities, knowledge, skills, and experience in supporting the medical code of ethics in Indonesia.

Graduate Profile

The following is a list of graduate profiles found in Specialist-1 Program in Dermatology Venereology and Aesthetics

Graduates can become specialists in hospitals, skin clinics, or private practice, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of skin and genital problems such as psoriasis, dermatitis, genital warts, and sexually transmitted infections.

Some study program graduates also choose to become skin and genital consultants in hospitals or other health institutions. They will serve as consultants who provide advice and input to general practitioners or other specialists regarding the diagnosis and treatment of complex cases in the field of skin and genital diseases.

Graduates of this course can specialize in skin surgery, performing various surgeries such as skin tumor excision and removal and cosmetic procedures such as mole or lipoma removal.

Some graduates also choose to become cosmetic dermatologists, focusing on skincare for aesthetic purposes. They perform cosmetic procedures such as laser treatment, fillers, or chemical peels to improve the appearance of patients' skin.

Graduates of this study program who pursue a career as medical researchers will work in research institutes and universities. They will be responsible for designing and conducting clinical research to improve understanding of skin and genital diseases and develop new therapies or technologies for treatment.
