Forensic Medicine and Medicolegal Studies

Graduates of this study program can work as forensic experts in hospitals or government institutions such as police, prosecutors, and other law enforcement agencies where they are tasked with performing autopsies, determining the cause of death, and providing reports that will be used in legal proceedings.

Some graduates choose to become lecturers or researchers in medical faculties or other educational institutions. They will be assigned to teach forensic courses, guide students in research, as well as contribute to the development of forensic science through scientific research.

Graduates can also work as forensic consultants in forensic laboratories, where they help analyze physical evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, and chemicals. They will provide expert interpretations that aid criminal investigations and court proceedings.

Graduates can work with NGOs or international organizations focusing on human rights and war crimes investigations. They will be tasked with conducting forensic examinations at conflict sites, providing evidence for international tribunals, and assisting in recovering victims' identities.

Graduates can be involved in medico-legal cases relating to injury or death from medical malpractice, accidents, or violence. Through clinical evaluations, they will provide reports that are later used in medico-legal litigation.

Forensic specialists may work in forensic psychiatry as assessors of defendants' mental health in a criminal case, providers of expert opinions on mental capacity and legal competence, and testifiers in court on the psychological state of defendants.
