Specialist Medical Education Program (Sp-1)

The Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is a study program that teaches the skills to diagnose and treat various mental health disorders, including anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, and more. Established in 1980 with expert and nationally certified teaching staff, students have the opportunity to gain interactive and effective hands-on and problem-based learning experiences.

With great pleasure, I am pleased to welcome you to the Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb, Peace be upon us all. The Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is one of Indonesia's best medical education centers. This study program was established in 1976 and has been accredited since 2011 with an accreditation of A. It was then re-accredited by LAM-PTKes in 2017 with an accreditation of A. In May 2022, it maintained Excellent accreditation again. The Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry of FK USU has consistently been dedicated to providing education and skills training in psychiatry, neurobiology, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology based on an integrated approach between bio-psychosocial and cultural aspects. The Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry of FK USU is committed to providing education with the best academic atmosphere that supports innovative and collaborative teaching and learning activities, research, and training. We are committed to preparing our students to become reliable and trusted psychiatrists. For this reason, the vision of the Specialist-1 Program in Psychiatry of FK USU is to become a center of excellence in psychiatric education that can compete at a global level.
