Subspecialist Medical Education Program (Sp-2)

This program studies the science and art of pregnancy preparation or those related to midwifery, encompassing fetomaternal, fertility, and gynecology, and is a continuation of the Specialist-1 Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU).

As this program is a newly established study program, it has not received accreditation.

History

2021

The Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is an integral part of the development of medical education in Indonesia, particularly in enhancing the competence of specialists in women's reproductive health. Established in response to the growing need for subspecialist doctors with strong clinical and academic competence in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara is established under the national education system and the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The program officially obtained its operational permit from the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara on July 2, 2021, through the Rector's Decree Number 2374/UN5.1.R/SK/PRS/2021. Since its establishment, the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has carried the vision of becoming one of the leading subspecialist education programs in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Indonesia. The program focuses not only on clinical services and teaching but also on the development of impactful and applicable research for the benefit of society.

2023

The program's commitment to maintaining its quality and standard of education has resulted in the achievement of a minimum accreditation level from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes). The accreditation certificate, number 0007/LAMPTKes/Akr PSB.PTN-BH/SubSpe/II/2023 serves as a testament to the national standards met by this program. This achievement indicates that the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, not only fulfills the fundamental requirements for conducting subspecialist medical education but also demonstrates a strong commitment to nurturing professional and ethical medical personnel who are capable of competing both nationally and globally.

Present Day

Currently, the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is led by Dr. M. Oky Prabudi, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G, Subsp. F.E.R., a fertility and reproductive endocrinology subspecialist who has long contributed to medical education and reproductive health services. Under his leadership, the study program continues to enhance academic quality, build professional networks, and improve the competence of its graduates to meet global challenges in subspecialist obstetrics and gynecology. With full support from the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Sumatera Utara, teaching hospitals, and qualified educators, the Subspecialist Doctor Education Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara continues to grow and innovate to become a center of excellence in subspecialist education in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Indonesia.

To provide education that instills the values of BINTANG (Faithful to God Almighty, Innovative, Resilient, and Wise) to produce graduates who are competent, professional, and possess high moral and spiritual integrity in carrying out their duties.
To produce subspecialist doctors in obstetrics and gynecology according to the subspecialist doctor education standards set by the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Collegium and the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) under Ministry Regulation No. 73 of 2013, thus enhancing public health services at both the national and international levels.
To produce subspecialist obstetrics and gynecology doctors with integrity in providing services using assisted reproductive technology (ART) with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), fetal therapy (fetoscopy and invasive ultrasonography), management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum Disorder (PASD), and comprehensive ovarian cancer management.
To conduct research and community service in the field of subspecialist obstetrics and gynecology that benefits society and the development of knowledge, which can improve the quality of life for women and contribute to the nation's intellectual growth.
