Undergraduate Program (S-1)

As the oldest study program at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Undergraduate Program in Medicine has long been at the forefront of providing quality medical education. With a comprehensive curriculum and lecturers who are experts in their fields, this study program aims to train competent and charismatic doctors who are ready to face challenges in an increasingly complex medical world. With great pleasure, I am pleased to welcome you to the Undergraduate Program in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Assalamualaikum wr. wb., Alhamdulillah, praise and gratitude be to Allah Swt. for His mercy and bounty that have allowed us to complete the website of the Medical Education and Professional Study Program (PSPPD). This website contains information related to the Medical Education and Profession Study Program. In general, PPSD consists of 2 study programs, namely the Medical Education Program (Undergraduate Program in Medicine) which is carried out for 7 semesters and the Medical Doctor Profession Education Program (P3D) which is carried out for 4 semesters. To obtain the title of doctor, students are required to take the Doctor Competency Test (CBT and OSCE UKMPPD). As a result of the accreditation conducted by LAMPT-Kes in 2021, PSPDD has received Excellent accreditation status for both the Medical Education Program and the Medical Doctor Profession Education Program. This website also presents the achievements of our medical students, both at the national and international levels. We hope that this website proves to be beneficial and informative for all. Graduate Profile

The following is a list of graduate profiles found in Undergraduate Program in Medicine

As general practitioners, graduates of this study program will be tasked with diagnosing and treating patients with various diseases. Working together with the rest of the medical team to provide optimal care, they will be responsible for handling minor cases and emergency conditions. This role requires effective communication and the ability to provide holistic care to patients.

Graduates from this study program who become independent practicing doctors can open clinics to offer community healthcare services. They can handle various medical cases, from routine check-ups to treatment of specific diseases. This career prospect provides flexible working hours and requires good clinic management skills.

Graduates of this study program can also pursue a specialization in their field of interest, such as surgery, cardiology, or psychiatry. As specialists, they will be expected to handle more complex medical cases using their specialty knowledge and skills. In addition, they may also play a role in research and development of clinical practice in their area of specialization.

As a graduate of the USU Faculty of Medicine, I gained a lot of knowledge and experience that were not significantly different from medical education in Malaysia. The teachers and lecturers at the USU Faculty of Medicine have kind hearts, open minds, high dedication, and enthusiasm for discussion. Furthermore, my fellow students at the USU Faculty of Medicine were always helpful and active in community service activities.
