As the oldest study program at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the Undergraduate Program in Medicine has long been at the forefront of providing quality medical education. With a comprehensive curriculum and lecturers who are experts in their fields, this study program aims to train competent and charismatic doctors who are ready to face challenges in an increasingly complex medical world. Students will gain in-depth clinical experience supported by adequate facilities.
Built by a team of leading academics and medical practitioners, the USU Undergraduate Program in Medicine produces graduates ready to contribute to ensuring quality healthcare services and play an active role in the development of the national health system. Graduates of this study program will earn the Bachelor of Medicine (S.Ked.) degree.
Vision & Mission
To establish the Medical Doctor Profession Education Program of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Medicine into a quality medical doctor profession education program by 2024, towards the Center of Excellence in Tropical Medicine and Oncology Prevention in Southeast Asia in supporting the Vision of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Medicine to become an educational institution with TALENTA Competitive edge.
- To enhance the quality of education, research, and community service, consistently, effectively and efficiently, and in accordance with advancements in medical science and technology, through good faculty governance and a good quality assurance system.
- To produce graduates who are agents of change as a driving force of modernization in society, equipped with scientific competence, relevance, and strong competitiveness as well as professional and ethical intellectual behavior within the framework of Interprofessional Education / Collaboration (IPE/IPC).
- To establish public leadership through the benefits of research, and community service that has an impact on epidemiology especially in tropical diseases and oncology prevention, with product and scientific development orientation.
- To establish an independent and professional Faculty in the management and development of the institution and build collaborations with both national and international institutions, especially in the fields of tropical medicine and oncology prevention.

- In order to achieve the vision and carry out the mission, the goals that must be achieved by the Universitas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Medicine are formulated, namely:
- To produce quality graduates capable of developing science, technology, humanities, and arts based on morals, religion, and capable of competing at the national and international levels.
- To produce innovative research that encourages the development of science, technology, humanities, and arts at national and international scales.
- To produce community service based on reasoning and research work that contributes in advancing the public welfare and educating the life of the nation and innovative community empowerment in order to enable society to independently and sustainably solve its problems.
- To establish adaptive, creative, and proactive independence in response to community demands and development challenges, both at the national and international levels.
- To enhance the quality of learning management continuously to achieve excellence in national and international competition and collaboration.
- To serve as a moral and intellectual force in building a civil society in Indonesia.
- To develop the potential of students to become individuals who are faithful and devout to the One Almighty God and possess noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, proficient, creative, independent, skilled, competent, and cultured for the benefit of the nation.
