Evaluating Zoonotic Malaria Transmission and Agriculture Land Use in Indonesiais a research project in the field of Zoonotic Malaria conducted by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and several universities in Australia and other research institutions. Besides the Universitas Sumatera Utara, the participating institutions are 1) National Research and Innovation Agency, 2) Menzies School of Health Research - Australia, 3) Oxford Clinical Research Unit - Indonesia, 4) Department of Environmental Health and Vector Control - Medan, 5) James Cook University - Australia, 6) University of Western Australia, 7) University of Melbourne, Australia, 8) CSIRO - Australia, and 9) London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine - United Kingdom.

 

In August 2023, the research team held a socialization event to announce the preliminary research results and close the research activities in the four districts. The event received tremendous response and enthusiasm from stakeholders and communities in each region.

Then, on 23 and 24 November 2023, the research team from all institutions gathered in Jakarta to socialize and discuss research results with stakeholders more broadly and in-depth. Around 100 district, national, and international stakeholders attended the event. Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, National Innovation Research Agency, and Regional and District Health Offices representatives were present to hear all presentations. With this meeting, it is hoped that the research results will receive attention from policymakers to benefit the wider community.

News
