The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G., Subsp.K.Fm, expressed his appreciation to the entire academic community for their contributions to the preparation of the accreditation process for the Medical Doctor Professional Education Study Program (PSPPD). He conveyed his appreciation while delivering his remarks as the supervisor of the FK USU Morning Assembly, held on Monday (3 August 2026) at the FK USU Pavilion.

In his address, the Dean expressed his gratitude to all accreditation document teams, lecturers, education staff, and various other parties who worked together to ensure that all stages of PSPPD accreditation preparation were carried out thoroughly. According to him, the success of the accreditation process is the result of the collective efforts of the entire academic community, driven by a shared commitment to improving the quality of education at FK USU. This commitment is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in building strong and sustainable higher education governance.
The Dean further emphasized that PSPPD serves as the main foundation of medical education at FK USU. According to him, the quality and outcome of the PSPPD accreditation will have a significant impact on the continuity and reputation of other study programs within the faculty.
“PSPPD is the soul or core of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, as well as the main pillar supporting all educational programs within the faculty. If its accreditation result is not optimal, it will affect other study programs, ranging from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs to specialist (Sp-1) and subspecialist (Sp-2) medical education programs. Therefore, we all hope to achieve the best possible result from this accreditation process,” he stated.

The statement underscores the importance of maintaining the quality of medical education through a robust accreditation process. This is aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, which promotes the improvement of higher education through strengthened quality assurance systems, compliance with accreditation standards, and institutional development aimed at producing professional and globally competitive graduates.
The Dean also highlighted that FK USU’s long-standing achievement of an “Excellent” accreditation status has fostered trust among various educational institutions, hospitals, and local governments. Many universities and healthcare institutions have chosen FK USU as a partner in academic development and in supporting the establishment of new study programs. According to him, this trust must be maintained through continuous improvements in educational quality and stronger collaborative networks. Such collaboration also supports the implementation of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by developing strategic partnerships that contribute to strengthening the capacity of educational institutions and healthcare services in Indonesia.
Through the synergy of its entire academic community, FK USU remains optimistic about maintaining its culture of quality, improving the standard of medical education, and upholding its “Excellent” accreditation status as one of the leading faculties of medicine in Indonesia. With a spirit of collaboration and continuous improvement, FK USU remains committed to providing high-quality and innovative medical education while making a meaningful contribution to national health development.
