Medan, August 12, 2026 – The Women’s Volleyball Team of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU) secured third place in the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) women’s volleyball competition, held as part of the series of competitions commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Led by Dr. dr. Dina Aprilia Ariestine, M.Ked(PD), Sp.PD(K), the FK USU Women’s Volleyball Team demonstrated solid and spirited performances throughout the competition. Their impressive performance was met with appreciation from spectators, who showed their support and enthusiasm from the sidelines.

In one of the matches, the FK USU Women’s Volleyball Team secured a convincing 3–0 victory over the Faculty of Agriculture. The win was achieved through consistent play, with set scores of 25–11, 25–18, and 25–10.

The FK USU Women’s Volleyball Team was formed through collaboration between faculty members and education staff. The education staff players consisted of Nisa Amalia, Elfira Pasaribu, Elfira Sinulingga, Dewi S. Handayani, and Fatmawati, while the faculty members included Dr. dr. Dina Aprilia Ariestine, M.Ked(PD), Sp.PD(K), Dr. dr. Yetti Machrina, and Dr. dr. Siti Syarifah.

Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of FK USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK., expressed her appreciation for the team’s efforts and enthusiasm. According to her, the achievement demonstrates that discipline, teamwork, and camaraderie can serve as powerful strengths in achieving success. “Hopefully, this achievement will serve as motivation to continue training and maintaining the spirit of togetherness,” said Prof. Dina.

FK USU’s participation in this sporting event also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for all. Joint sporting activities not only contribute to physical fitness but also strengthen social interaction, camaraderie, and a healthy lifestyle culture within the university community.
