The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), through its Department of Community Service, once again demonstrated its commitment to making a meaningful contribution to society by organizing the 2026 Mass Circumcision Program. Carrying the theme "Growing Healthy, Moving Forward," the program was held at State Junior High School 1 Beringin, Emplasmen Village, Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency, on 27 June 2026.

This annual program is one of the faculty's implementations of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service. In addition to providing direct healthcare services, the program also served as an educational platform to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining health and personal hygiene from an early age.

The community showed overwhelming enthusiasm for the program. A total of 110 children participated in the mass circumcision, exceeding the initial target. The high level of participation reflects the community's strong need for accessible healthcare services and demonstrates public trust in the community service initiatives carried out by the academic community of FK USU.

The circumcision procedures involved students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, under the supervision of experienced physicians and healthcare professionals. With this guidance, all medical procedures were carried out in accordance with established standards of care, prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and the quality of healthcare services for every participant.

For the students, the program provided a valuable opportunity to apply the knowledge they had acquired throughout their medical education. Through direct field experience, they not only strengthened their clinical skills but also developed communication abilities, empathy, teamwork, and professionalism in delivering healthcare services to the community.

Through the theme "Growing Healthy, Moving Forward," the program is expected to provide long-term benefits for the people of the Beringin District and its surrounding areas. Beyond delivering medical services, it represents a tangible manifestation of collaboration among students, lecturers, healthcare professionals, and the community in improving public health and overall well-being.

The 2026 BEM FK USU Mass Circumcision Program also aligns with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by improving access to safe and quality healthcare services, and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing experiential learning opportunities for students to develop their clinical competencies, professionalism, and commitment to community service.
