Medan, June 3, 2026 – The Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully conducted the First Accreditation Surveillance in accordance with the SNI ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, organized by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) on June 2–3, 2026. The assessment was carried out onsite at the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, USU as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of its accredited laboratory services.
During the surveillance process, the assessment team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the laboratory’s quality management system and technical competence. In addition to reviewing documentation and the implementation of the quality management system, the assessors also performed witness assessments on several testing parameters, including BDNF and VEGF-A using the PCR method, as well as MDA using the ELISA method.
Based on the assessment findings, the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, USU was deemed eligible to retain its accreditation status within the submitted scope. However, the assessment team identified several Category 2 nonconformities that require corrective actions by the laboratory. These findings are considered manageable and can be addressed through the implementation of appropriate improvements.
The leadership of the Faculty of Medicine, USU welcomed the surveillance results positively, viewing them as an integral part of the institution’s continuous quality improvement process. The evaluation conducted by KAN is expected to further strengthen the competence of the Integrated Laboratory in supporting educational activities, research, and laboratory services that meet both national and international standards.
