The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (KemdiktiSaintek) demonstrated its concern for flood victims by distributing aid to communities affected by flooding in Aceh Tamiang through the Medical Team of the Faculty of Medicine USU. The assistance was handed over directly at the Flood Response Post in Paya Bedi Village on Saturday, 6 December 2025.
In addition to aid distribution, the USU Medical Team also provided health services in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Led by the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Medicine USU, Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K), the initiative ensured that the academic community of USU was present to support disaster-affected communities.


As part of this humanitarian mission, the Public Health Team of the Faculty of Medicine USU brought various essential supplies, including tents, generator sets, diesel fuel, folding mattresses, basic food packages, and medicines to support emergency health services at the disaster site. This assistance is expected to help ease the burden of residents who are still staying in evacuation shelters.
Dr. dr. Muara Panusunan Lubis, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K), as Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Medicine USU, was accompanied by dr. Fithria Aldy, M.Ked(Oph), Sp.M(K), Dr. dr. Yetty Machrina, M.Kes., AIFO-K, Sp.KKLP, Subsp. FOMC, Dr. dr. Wulan Fadinie, Sp.An-TI, Subsp. An.O(K), as well as several medical specialist trainees (PPDS) from the Faculty of Medicine USU. Their presence was warmly welcomed by local government officials and authorities.
Upon arrival at the site, the USU delegation was received directly by the Vice Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Ismail, S.E.I, together with the Commander of the Aceh Tamiang Military District (Dandim), Lt. Col. Arm. Raden Subhi Fitra Jaya, S.Sos., M.M. On this occasion, they expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the concern and support shown by the Faculty of Medicine USU in standing with the community during difficult times.

The handover of aid took place at the main command post and was witnessed by disaster response officers and local residents. An atmosphere of emotion accompanied the distribution, as the assistance was urgently needed by evacuees who had been staying in shelters for several days due to the flooding. The aid was also distributed to residents in isolated areas who required immediate support.

The Faculty of Medicine USU emphasized that its commitment to the community will continue. The medical team will keep monitoring the health conditions of affected residents and remains prepared to provide additional assistance whenever necessary.
