On Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine USU held a Ceremony to present the Specialist Certification in Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy, introduce New Residents to the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) and introduce new Subspecialists to Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy. The event occurred at the Grand Ballroom, 3rd Floor, Adimulia Hotel.
The inauguration was marked by the presentation of medals by the Head of the Study Program, Dr. Andriamuri Primaputra Lubis, M. Ked (An), SpAn-TI, Subsp. TI (K), and the awarding of plaques by the Secretary of the Study Program, Dr. Rr Sinta Irina, SpAn-TI, Subsp. NA(K), to 10 Specialists in Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy (Alumni 207–216) and 2 Consultants who have completed their training. This event also served as an introduction for 15 new residents of the Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy Program.
In his speech, the Head of the Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy Study Program, Dr. Andriamuri Primaputra Lubis, M. Ked (An), SpAn-TI, Subsp. TI (K), stated that the program continues to expand its international collaborations. In May 2025, the Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy Study Program will establish a partnership with the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
"In May 2025, the Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy Study Program will establish a partnership with an international university, the University of Malaya, Malaysia. As part of this collaboration, residents of the Anesthesiology & Intensive Therapy Program at the Faculty of Medicine, USU, will be sent to the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, as observers for approximately one month," said Dr. Andriamuri.
"The Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine USU has achieved remarkable accomplishments over the past two years. One of its most notable achievements is the success of its students in securing a top-five ranking in the national examination. Dr. Amat Habibie was among the graduates who attained one of the highest scores this year. Additionally, the program received recognition from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the largest number of participants in basic life support training for public transport drivers," he added.
The Secretary of USU, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.OG(K)-Fer, also expressed his highest appreciation to the Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, USU, for its contribution to producing highly qualified medical professionals.
"We hope these graduates will contribute to various hospitals across Indonesia, especially in areas still lacking anesthesiology specialists. We also encourage this study program to establish a subspecialty training program soon, considering that the available teaching staff and resources are already sufficient," said Prof. Fidel.
The Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Medicine USU, Dr. dr. Delyuzar, M.Ked(PA), Sp.PA(K), emphasized the crucial role of anesthesiology and intensive therapy specialists in the medical field. These specialists are highly needed in various areas, including assisting surgeons, managing intensive care in hospitals, and pain management. The Faculty of Medicine USU is committed to continuously producing professional medical personnel ready to contribute to healthcare services.
He also added that the Faculty of Medicine USU will continue striving to enhance the quality of education and ensure that students complete their studies on time, allowing more specialists to contribute to the healthcare sector.
